Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 25764
Paste HTML copied from Internet Explorer 6.0 appears off screen
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I frequently copy articles from the web from Internet Explorer into Word. Now that I am using OpenOffice, I'm having trouble getting this to work. The pasted text often appears off screen or strangely formatted (as if three pages of text are on page one of the OO writer document and you can see only the first part). To reproduce: 1. Open a web page in Internet Explorer 6.0 that is reasonably long (such as http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=318378). 2. Select the text from the main part of the frame (from the title "How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP" down to "Keywords: kbenv kbhowto kbsetup KB318378 "). 3. Paste this in a new OO writer document. For me, nothing appears on the first page of the new OO document at all except what looks like part of a table. Page two has some text, but there is much text not visible. Then on page three, you can see the tail end of the article. Thanks for your time. I searched for this as best I could and didn't find it reported. Cheers and good job on a fine open source product. Arthur
Created attachment 13344 [details] Example of HTML pasting problem in Writer from Internet Explorer 6.0
Hello, I think, it is the known problem, that up to version 1.1 in OOo a table cell cannot exceed a page boundary. You can see, that the text is still there, if you change to 'online layout' in the menu 'view'. If you want to dissolve the table, you can use 'Text <-> Table' in the menu 'tools'. Moreover there are some sections in your file. Those you can dissolve in the Navigator.
