Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 25711
changing paper size to 3x5 landscape cause no output to be printed
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
To reproduce simply set you page to page width to 5' and your height to 3' and set to landscape. No output is generated. I can find no way to print to a 3x5 card in landscap mode. All other attemps at setting print to the card in portrait.
I assume you get a blank page in cause of cutting the print-range. You build a landscape page with portrait settings. When the printer gets the order to print as landscape to a page, which has portrait settings, you have data loss. Just try and place your text once on top, middle and buttom of the page to see the print behavior.
The problem is that this same procedure, under Micro$oft Word, works. I cannot find a way to print on a 3x5 card in landscape format using OpenOffice.
upon additional review, it appears this also happens on other sizes as well. If the margins are NOT modified, it prints properly. Modifying the margins causes the print failure.
set target OOo later
It would be very nice if this could be fixed in 2.0 (or earlier ;-), as this bug makes printing envelopes nearly impossible.
HI->OS: Printing of envelopes is realy difficult. It looks like a clamped feature.
os->ssa: Printing such a document creates weird results. Ghostview shows me a page of letter size. Printing on a Xerox printer prints empty pages regardles whether the page is set to portrait or landscape.
ssa->hi: please check if the bug exists with latest product patch version. several bugs regarding printing were fixed meanwhile.

HI->SSA: It occurs also with the latest build. Please use the attached file to reproduce.

ssa->dv: please, have a look.
The svx page dialog never sets the page size at the printer, but some printers use huge page offsets together with existing paper sizes to emulate user page sizes ( especially in landscape ). Because the page setup dialog never sets the size, it will not be informed about those offsets and later priniting will fail.
pb: accepted.
pb: too much effort to implement and test needed -> OO Later.
