Created a test page based on the DCOUNT example by cutting and pasting the 
sample data in the help file to a new spreadsheet.
Next added the formula per the instructions.  All worked as expected.
Altered the formula to DCOUNTA and changed the search criteria per the provided 
instructions and got error 504.  Behavior consistent on OOo1.1.0 on both 2000
and XP Pro.  Only reference found was to a documentation error for the German 
documentation translation.  Changed DCOUNTA back to DCOUNT and the criteria 
worked.

This issue has nothing to do with 18153.  18153 appears to be related to having 
a shared FTP site...
