Description tesstah 2004-02-13 05:43:46 UTC
In OOo 1.0.3, on the "File->Properties->Internet" tab, there was a box to set
what type of frame would open when a hyperlink was clicked on (_blank - _parent
- _self, etc.) This setting would then apply to ALL hyperlinks in the document.

This setting is NOT available in Writer, Calc, Draw and Impress. There is only a
"Redirect" setting on that tab.

Since the "Target Frame" setting is not in OOo 1.1.0, it necessitates the manual
insertion of this property (through the Hyperlink Dialog) for EVERY HYPERLINK in
the document. If there are only a few links it is not too bad, but if there are
a lot of them, it is quite tedious to set each one individually.

If the document is an HTML document, I can edit the finished page in Notepad
and, in the "head" section, add the html code necessary (<BASE TARGET="_blank">,
etcetera), but other types of documents would be quite difficult to edit in this
manner.

Thank you,
TessTah

SBA->ES: Isn't this an enhancement? Reassigned to Eric.

No, it is not an enhancement. It is an option (feature?) that used to be in
OpenOffice.org, but was removed. It *was* on the same tab where there is now
only a redirect option. I believe the redirect option was already there in
OOo1.0.3, (along with the Target frame setting) but as the useful Target Frame
setting has been removed it makes more work for the end user.

While it is possible to set the hyperlinks manually, (for each and every link in
each and every document) why should it have to be done that way when the setting
was previously available? Perhaps, OO01.0.3 was the only version to have the
option? OOo1.0.3 was the first version I ever used, so I don't know.
You can change this to an RFE if you really want to, but it is actually a
Request For A Useful Option (feature?) That Used To Be, But Is No Longer Available.

Obviously, there are more important issues in OOo (such as the problems with
images in .RTF documents) so this is not a high priority, but it is a useful
option and should be reinstated (IMO.)

Thank you,
Tesstah

As verified in 1.0.3 such a function (apply a default target for all hyperlinks)
did not exist. In 1.0.3, the Internet tab page shows an URL and a Frame fields
used to redirect the document.

Bull...
Obviously I don't have it installed anymore, so I can not send you a screenshot,
or the exact Build Number.
In the version I had the setting was there EXACTLY as described! Since there are
so many versions, and reworkings and so many people changing things for there
own releases that there is no way that you could possibly have every Build I
will accept your closing the issue (BUG-DEFECT-Whatever you want to cll them.)
And that is one of OOo's strengths, but also a weakness, as it lends itself to
inconsistancies and confusion, etc.
But I state again - THE SETTING WAS THERE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED. In version 1.0.3.

Perhaps I will enter this as a RFE, Not today.

Thank you,
Tesstah
