Please copy and paste here the commands you have used. Better as a first step, can you try and install this into your home directory, cd ~ tar zxvf OOo_1.1.0_LinuxSparc_install_en.tar.gz it should unpack into a directory called ~/install cd install do the interactive installation: ./setup report what happens. this build was never tested with "./install", "--prefix=/usr/local" but i expect you would need to be root to do that, and as it is an early contributed development build it is better not to install it as root. Also that was an early version, there is a later contrib build at major mirrors now, thanks, jim

was the first attempt as root? the second strace should be different (different user, different command, different target) but OK, leave out strace for a while and try some other things. we come back to strace if all else fails. when reporting, copy and paste the actual command and output. for long lists put them into a text file and attach here (paste into a text editor or redirect output). i am UTC +11 here so there may be some delays. what is your linux distribution, name, version? OOo_1.1.1fix2_040120_LinuxSparc_install_en.tar.gz please report your md5sum by command: md5sum OOo_1.1.0_LinuxSparc_install_en.tar.gz the setup program will try and unzip files into a directory such as /tmp/sv001, /tmp/sv002 etc. remove any of those directories from /tmp by commands such as for sv001 or whatever you see: cd /tmp rm -rf sv001 now try setup again with -dontdeletetemp cd ~/install ./setup -dontdeletetemp now cd /tmp do you see a directory such as svoo1, sv002 ? cd sv001 (or to what you see) list the files, command ls is there setup, setup.bin? do some ldd: ldd setup.bin (if it fails first do "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.") there should be a long list of libraries located. are any libraries not found? what are they? are they in your /lib, /usr/lib? copy the output to a file by command ldd setup.bin > result.txt and attach that to this issue. not fixed yet? try this: /tmp/sv001/export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. /tmp/sv001/gdb setup.bin if it crashses type "where" and attach the report
as we progress you may also need cleanup after each attempt if these are created: cd ~ rm .sversionrc rm -rf Openoffice.org.1.1.0 (or what is there? anything inside it)

Sorry for taking so long to answer :( I've just downloaded and installed: OOo_1.1.1fix2_040120_LinuxSparc_install_en.tar.gz It worked perfectly :) The version that wouldn't work for me was: OOo_1.1.0_LinuxSparc_install_en.tar.gz Thanks for the help !!! /Dan
