Description Frank Schönheit 2004-01-28 08:14:26 UTC
system: WinXP, service pack 1, MDAC 2.8, msjetoledb40.dll version: 4.0.8015.0

* create a data source for the attached bugdoc.mdb
* Tools|Data Sources
* select the data source, and go to the tab page "Tables"
* select the table "test"
* press the "edit table" button in the toolbox of this tab page
=> the table design opens
* there's a column named "test" - change it's type to "Integer [long]"
* save the table
=> a warning pops up, saying that the column could not be changed, and asking
whether it should be deleted and re-appended
* press "no"
=> the type of the column "test" is changed back to "Text [LongText]" (which is ok)
* close the table design window
* reopen it
=> the column "test" vanished from the table (including all potential data, of
course)

FS: targeting to 1.1.2 in agreement with MSC
FS->OJ: please also investigate why the warning pops up at all - shouldn't ADO
be able to change column types without any problem?
