Description jerryd3001 2004-01-26 22:43:06 UTC
If I try to open a DBF file in the spreadsheet it instead opens it in the
wordprocessor. I'm creating the file in AlphaFour database program, a DOS
program that defaults to DBF file format and that has been in use since the
early 1990's to the best of my knowledge. I hope you can modify the spreadsheet
to accept these files or at least tell me why it won't accept them. Daniel
Carrera will be working with me on this issue and submitting additional
information.

Thanks.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for submitting this issue. Changes I'm making:

1) I'm setting the OOo version to 1.1 because Jerry told me that this is what
he has. He just didn't see the option.

2) I'm setting the target release to 1.1.2.

I can confirm this issue (on Solaris, OOo 1.1.0) that this DBF file is opened in
Writer instead of CALC. There have been some similar issues reported before.
In particular, see issues 4991 and 9581.

Issue 4991 is a problme with Foxpro, and issue 9581 is a real problem that has
been started. I cannot tell if this issue is the same as either of those, or a
new one altogether. We need one of the more experienced people to clear this up.

I can't tell if this is the same problem or not.

Hi Jerry and Daniel,

this is a double to Issue 9581 the 0d value for the end of the header is at the
wrong place. Switching position from Offset h100 to h101 and vice versa solves
the problem.

Best regards

Frank
