The a cone does not render correctly after clicking on 3D controller. It 
develops spikey triangles

Please deactivate you open GL support under tools/options/openoffice.org/view/3d
view/use Open GL. If that solves the problem than you have a badly programmed 3d
driver of your graphic card. Using another driver or keeping openGL support
switched off is the resolution. Thanks.
