Description xen0 2004-01-16 04:47:11 UTC
hi,

it would be VERY nice if OO included a DJVULibre export feature:
http://djvu.sourceforge.net

just as the current and very nice .PDF export feature.

Considering that DJVU produces much smaller files etc. etc., why not consider it?

Thank you for a good piece of software.

Can hardly wait for it to get even better ;-)

/m

cp->bh: request for a new export filter. this is not a gsl issue but you would
need to discuss this with Dieter or Caolan eventually.

I would also like to see the ability for OpenOffice.org to export to the DjVu
format. Unfortunately, DJVULibre's GPL licensing may not be compatible with
OO.o's licensing. Since the DjVu specs
(http://www.djvuzone.org/djvu/techpapers/djvuspec/index.html) are only 39 pages
(in comparison to PDF's >500 page docs) it might be possible to implement the
export from scratch without using the DJVULibre library.

I recently experienced the benefits of having Djvu, and I wish that
OpenOffice.org had an export feature. I know that you have received this
request before, but it would be so wonderful that it did that very important
feeature. Thank you

I am surprised this hasn't gotten more requests. May I add my humble vote to
this one ;) Here's a recent article about all the benefits of DJVu:

A workaround:

install a pdf > dvju program, export to PDF and process the file to dvju

http://djvu.sourceforge.net/doc/man/djvudigital.html

This can be scripted but depends heavily on GhostScript, so the download size
would be huge, and probably not really feasible.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
