Believe it or not, I sometimes unzip the .sxw files and edit content.xml
directly. The code is horrible, though, everything on a single line. Could we
get the xml saved in a human-readable, indented format?

In "Tools"/"Options...", In "Load/Save"/"General",
Is option "Size optimization for XML format (no pretty printing)" is enabled ?

By default, OOo has this option enabled because of file size optimization.
