Description g_e_pii 2004-01-03 00:40:08 UTC
See the attached description file (Notes.out).
Summary:
Running latest version of Red Hat Linux 9 with
all the up2date additions as of 29 December.

Tested installation on existing Word files that worked with OO.org1.0
they did not get imported properly. See below.

Tested installation on existing .txt files same problem as for Word files.

Problem:
Document comes in with miniscule font all crowded together as a black blob.

If I select the entire document and change the font to any font,
     the page then displays correctly.

There should be four files attached, two by your request.

Notes.out (description file)
soffice-?.out (output from soffice -?)
xdpyinfo.out (requested output in your submission document)
xset-q.out (requested output in your submission document)

Thanks for the help,
George Policello

Hi->George: the attached files don't give much information about your problem.
There could be at least one:

The font metrics of the font which is used in the document probably has wrong
information. Please import your Word document, select the whole document via
Strg-A and replace the font with a different one (eg. Bitstream Vera Sans which
is one of the TrueType fonts which comes with OOo). You could also try to import
a scalable font using the OOo printer configuration tool which you can find
within the program directory of OpenOffice.org.

btw. without attaching the document your problem cannot be evaluated completely...
