Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 24027
create macro disabled in presentation application
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:34:40 UTC
In Impress, the create macro button is greyed out. The create button is active in the Text and spreadsheet applications. I tried this on Sun Solaris, Mac OS X, and Windows 2000. The presentation macro create is disabled on all three platforms. A fresh installation of OpenOffice was made on all three platforms today (12/31/03).
Recording macros is only possible in Writer and Calc. So it is correct that the button is greyed out in Impress an Draw. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the response. However, I am still confused on this issue. I searched all the Openoffice documentation for macro and found no indication that macros or macro creation is supposed to be unavailable in openoffice. This is an issue for me because I am using OO in production on the sun and I really need to be able to create and run macros in the presentation application. It's not clear from the response if this is a limitation of this release of openoffice and will be addressed in future releases or if it is an issue in StarOffice and will not be addressed. I searched the Sun website and I found nothing there to indicate that macros are not available in the presentation tools. Macro capability is needed in the presentation tools, whether this is a release limitation or whether it is an enhancement request.
There is an internal issue existing (112032) dealing with the fact that the OO help does not say anything about macros not available in impress/draw. Getting the macros back to impress/draw will be done in the future but I am sorry I cannot tell you when it will exactly happen. So I forward this enhancement issue to the appropriate person. Thanks again for your help.
