Description ezh 2001-12-03 05:16:17 UTC
I had already submitted bugs on this doc, but they are already closed.

1) Problems opening in Ooo:
   a) the line after the logo is aligned lower than in Word and the whole text
under it is also a bit
misaligned
   b) the tables (Arve, Kuupaev, Klient, Aadress) are not so aligned to the
vertical baseline how they should (in Word they are also not so good aligned,
but in OOo it is very annoing)
   c) the spreadshit is overlayed by the grey table and is not visible. The
anchor for the spreadshit is inside the grey table
   d) Dunno why but in OOo the title "Hind km-ga" does not fit into the cell
   e) the border lines inside the spreadshits are too bold
   f) the borderline about the spreadshit are too thik (not as bold as they should)

2) Problems opening this file in MS Word after opening and saving in OOo:
   a) same as 1a
   b) same as 1b, but tables had much more lost they vertical baseline aligment
   c) in tables the data alligned to the left or right are to close to the align
line (in case of "text alligned to the right baseline | text alligned to the
left baseline" they just does not overwrite each other)
   d) only a half of the "number" mark is visible (I do believe it depends to
the 2c problem)
   e) inside spreadshits the üõöä letters (umlauts) are shown as ???? (so,
internationalization problem)
   f) try to open the spreadshits and exit - they contain a wide area of cells
now. You must get them as the size they were before were manually.

That's for one, but complicated document. :)

Also compare the size of the original Word doc and one the OOo has
generated...

For the future: Pleas use this tool to submit ONE issue for ONE
problem. Please do NOT describe several problems in one issue even if
they occur in the same Document!!!! This will become a whole chaos for
fixing bugs and keeping a looks on what´s fixed and what isn´t! Thank
you for your patience!
Comment 6 michael.ruess 2002-01-10 13:14:17 UTC
The only real bug is described by 1b)
The misalignment results from the fact, that OO unfortunately ignores
the table´s spacing to the left. We handle this issue internaly. I
think it will be fixed in an OO with a number higher than 641.

The other problems are due to the fact, that OO and Word behave
different in a few aspects. in the following I´ll try to explain it to
you:
1)
a) the first paragraph in the header has a font height of 36 pt. I
don´t know why Word displays it like a 12pt-paragraph, but when you
fill it with text, it expands to it´s real 36pt and the line also
moves down.
c) the object is anchored to the first cell in the table above it(also
in Word). Writer´s tables are not capable of displaying frames/objects
outside the table, when they arew anchored inside. Dev tries to
improve this behaviour after the final release of StarOffice 6.0.
d) Word and OO have different handlings of font sizes/dimensions and
spacings. OO takes the information from the printer, Word has it´s own
dimensioning.
e)+f) MS Office and OO use different line types. So when importing OO
has to match which line type comes nearest to those from MS. Sometimes
this can lead to differences when they are displayed.

The problems mentioned about the export to Word-format are all results
of the issues in the Import: what becomes imported is exported like this!
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2002-01-10 13:15:06 UTC
I close this one, because the only bug in it is handled internaly now.
Comment 8 ezh 2002-01-10 13:58:31 UTC
And the 2e issie? It prevents us to use OO.
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2002-01-11 15:52:39 UTC
That´s what I said about "exporting the document"...
Well, saving a document in a an alien format is called "EXPORT".
Comment 10 ezh 2002-01-12 19:05:40 UTC
So, no chance for fixing this? And using OO becomes impossible in most
of Europe's contries since they languages have umlauts?

Our plans to promoute SO in our country has been destroied since 99%
using Word and umlauts.

Or have I misunderstood smth?
