Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2386
Export OO docs to docbook/ pdf
Last modified: 2003-09-03 22:33:38 UTC
There is only one OS docbook editor and it is Abiword. The open source and business communities use docbook extensively. Adding docbook output capabilities would benefit many people. Bare minimum: export valid docbook include links to images Cheers Dennis
This would be excellent, and probably not all that hard using the XML framework as it's just an XML transform (i think).
There is already some work in progress on dev@xml.openoffice.org
I'm glad to hear there is some progress on docbook...but it occurs to me there is another shortcoming in OO... why isn't there a PDF export format? OO is all about XML...FOP is freely available...is there a licensing issue preventing OO from using FOP for creating PDF? thank you Dennis
Dennis, that's a feature that's already available on UNIX platforms (print to PDF) and will be on every platfrom soon. The new build 643 will include a framework for this. Expect to see it as a feature in future versions. Just as a quick infoburst 643 is the current 'unstable' or develoers build. OOo 1.0 came from the 641 branch and was extensively tested and bugfixed. 643 is pretty unstable but has some very cool new things.
thanks for the heads up on 643...but I wasn't able to find a link for it... I did find 642 http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/source/642/index.html#binaries thanks for the speedy reply!
Hi! Might it be possible to provide a kind of navigation to the PDF export? Currently the exported PDFs contain no links/bookmarks to headlines formated in the document. It would be nice to also create them so one can easily navigate through large PDF documents.
docbook export is included since OOo 1.1beta so. So I'm closing with "works for me". OOo 1.1 is able to export to PDF. For enhancements of the currend docbook export, please file a new issue. For enhancements of the pdf export, please file a new issue for component gsl.
