Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23575
PDF Export: OOWriter mangles JPEG images
Last modified: 2004-08-02 13:48:31 UTC
The user creates a MS Word document (see Dec03.doc), open it in oowriter and immediately exports to PDF. If he/she uses "Screen" optimization the image in the pdf is mangled (see Dec03.pdf). If print optimization is used, the issue doesn't appear. I appreciate the screen optimized should give more compressed images but the image is unreadable in xpdf or win32 acrobat reader. Not seen when tried on debian linux. Not seen with several other similar documents (eg the november edition of same mag) in WinXP including the same image. Thanks Gavin

cp->pl: please have a look, printing to file with SO7 on Linux worked correctly
pl->sj: looks like the known quality issue.
Yes, it seems to be the known quality issue. SJ->MMP: As I think you are working on the specification for our next pdf improvements, this issue is probably double or should be addressed in further pdf enhancements.
set milestone
MMP>CP: Thanks for taking over.
targeted for 2.0 according to http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/pdf_export/PDFExport.sxw
really is an enhancement
I put this on duplicate to #i20327#. We will improve on the image quality as described there. In fact the better image quality (default setting 90% jpeg, optionally losless compression) and the new dialog are already implemented in CWS pdf01. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 20327 ***
closing this one as duplicate (see above)
