Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23463
Some Greek letters can not be entered when running in Russian locale (ru_RU)
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:01 UTC
Internationalization (Russian) trivial bug in Math. It is impossible to insert Greek letters such as %varphi, %varpi etc. (in Russian they are inserted by constructions like %альтернат.фи etc.), while other letters such as %phi or %pi are inserted correctly both in Russian and in English locale environment.
SBA->Wildhoney: Due to the fact that your description lost a little information (due to code page/special character problems, I guess), I think a bugdoc showing the items you'd like to insert would be very helpful. Please attach a bugdoc and tell more about your Linux system. Reassigned to Ulf.
I bring my excuse for incomplete information. My Linux Distribution is Fedora Core 1 (I have also run OOO 1.1 on RHL9), but this i10n bug is not specific for Linux, but also does take place under Russian versions of MS Windows. Some Greek letters can not be entered in Math (in Russian locale in Linux or in Russian Windows versions): constructions like %varphi, %varepsilon, %varpi do not work properly, while other ones like %phi, %epsilon, %pi do work. Constructions such as %phi here are presented as they are entered in English environment (not Russian).
L10N team changed all Math macros to english. The problem is resolved. Math cannot parse macros with spaces and dots inside.
The problem seems to be resolved. OK to close the issue as fixed? If you have any obligations feel free to reopen. Thank you all.
