Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23432
vertical Hebrew text unreadble on import from excel
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:01 UTC
A file from MS excel has titles which are made of Hebrew vertical text. When opened in calc, the vertical Hebrew is gone (althugh non-Hebrew characters remain). See attached files

corection: the text is not lost, but moved down, where it overlaps the rest of the text on the page, making it unreadble.
One for me...
.
Because of limited resources for OOo1.1.2 we decided to shift this task to OOo2.0.
cp: retargeted to Office-Later due to limited ressources

just wondering- has anything happened with this?
For me, the vertical text in the sample file is displayed correctly both in 2.0.3 and 2.0.4. I tested on Windows.
ayaniger->hdu: This issue has the status "Started", but to me it looks like it's fixed. Is there more work to be done here that I don't know about?
@ayaninger: that's good news, thanks. The issue was probably accidentially fixed (maybe even somewhere in the Excel import filter?). If you can confirm that it works on Windows and at least on one Unix platform, where this problem happened before, then we should mark this issue as resolved (WORKSFORME).
I can confirm that it works on Windows and on Debian Linux.
Great, so the issue is ready for closing.
