Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 23340
OOo 1.1 quickstarter issues
Last modified: 2003-12-15 08:49:37 UTC
I have a Linux system using v 1.1 with a number of users, four plus root user. A newly configured user configured cannot start OOo, even after running the setup (in /opt /OpenOffice.org from the package OOo_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz), not by using the OpenOffice desktop icon or the Office menu applications without getting an OOo-wrapper messages window: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Installing default configuration... Saving conflicting files.. /home/foobar/OpenOffice.org --> /home/foobar/OpenOffice.org.old version already installed ExitCode: 17 Error: The default configureation was not created. Error: Try again or try to run "OOo-Wrapper --skip-check" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It could be that I had a horrible upgrade experience from the SuSE version OOo 1.0.2 to the current 1.1, and some of the 1.0.2 version is still kicking around affecting the menus. If I was to run /opt/Open*/setup and do a local workstation installation, I get a new folder OpenOffice.org1.1.0 In both the home/foobar/OpenOffice* folders, the setup and soffice application links start the respective OOo 1.1 modules. It is the startup menus and default blue sky icon link that are truly corrupted for new users added to the system. There is only one user that starts up from the Start..Office menu or from the default desktop item. Why does this one work when all of the others do not and how can I duplicate this throughout the system successfully?
Quickstarter on Linux? I don't know what you are talking about. OOo 1.1.0 has no Quickstarter on Linux. Please have a look at the setup guide (located in your installation source or at http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide/index.html). Make a -net installation as root and start setup of the -net installation again to create the workstation installation.
