Description memyselfi 2003-12-09 02:29:55 UTC
MS Excel has this nasty habit of converting certain strings of text into dates.
OOo, prior to 1.1 handled, handled this problem quite well by treating these
strings as strings. However, in 1.1, OOo imitates Excel and converts strings to
dates. AAAARRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

e.g. 04-3-5023 is a product code. OOo 1.1 converts it to 4/03/23 (like Excel).

Hi,

as we do it like Excel and Excel compatibility is one of the Keyfeatures of OOo,
this is not a bug.

Also Prio 1 is much to high. Prio 1 stands for a totally broken Application, and
this is clearly not the case.

To solve your problem, just place a single quote in front of the part number.
This is the sign that Calc should treat the following numbers as text.

Hi,

to make yourseld familiar with the Priority settings, just click on the Blue
Priority Link next to the drop down box.

Grrrr, checked it now and found that the opening window does not contain any
text. Have to file an Issue for that.

Just try it at another time.

Frank

PS. Issue 23387 is the missing text bug.
