Description brendel 2001-11-29 09:03:21 UTC
This is something I have also found with version 638, however I had not reported it thinking it a single occurrence :
I'm working with Windows NT Service Pack 6
Before installing 641, I uninstalled version 638, however I left the configuration files. Then I installed 641.
after installing I went to programm files and tried to open writer, crash, unrecoverable error. I rebooted.
soffice launched itself. I cliked on the icon in the system tray, trying to open writer. Crash, unrecoverable error.
I remembered that exactly the same thing happened to me with the 638 version. I uninstalled the 641 version, this
time including the configuration files. Reinstalled 641. Works.

Are you using the 638 folder for 641 installation?

Yes this may cause problems if you use different build IDs.
Due to the fact that this product is still in the state of 'heavy changes', there might be some incompatible files. This should hopefully work with the same build versions.
If you want to use your configuration files, try a different way:
- install into a clean directory
- backup the new configuration files
- replace them with your old configuration files
- see what happens :-)
If this doesn't work you only have to copy back your back up.
