The attached MS word document file (4k) which can be read by MS word 97 SR-2,
can be read by OOo, but the result is 36 pages of garbage followed by some of
the actual text mixed with control characters.

As I have received this file, I can not tell exactly how it were created.

In MS word 97 the document consist of one page with a header and a footer.

The file is of Word 2.x format, which is not supported by OpenOffice.
