Open OpenOffice by accessing its Presentation component through the Start Menu
in Windows. You should be within the AutoPilot Presentation function. Create a
new empty presentation and save it. I have named the file "test" for this
report. Close OpenOffice.

Go to the directory where the file "test" was saved in, and delete the file.

Open OpenOffice by accessing its Presentation component through the Start Menu
in Windows. You should once again be within the AutoPilot Presentation
function. Follow the "open existing presentation" option. The file "test" will
be listed and if you click on it, you will notice that any attempt to preview
the document will give you an error message:

"Error loading the template:
Nonexistent object.
Nonexistent file."

Double click on it and try to open the file itself; you will be given another
error message stating that the file cannot be found. OpenOffice will
automatically exit.

Open OpenOffice again and repeat the steps above. The "test" file will still
be listed.

It would be appropriate if the file wasn't listed after the program attempts
to preview/open it and an error is given.

the pilot uses the same service as the office uses for its list of recently used
files.
Andreas, can there be a general solution for this issue?
Comment 5 andreas.schluens 2004-01-13 10:11:09 UTC
Sorry - but such solution wont help. Because we dont lock any file from this
list on disk (which isnt possible for remote files like e.g. http in general).
Between checking the state and clicking the menu item the file could be removed
by any other process.

On the other side we have to do such check everytimes the "File" menu will be
opened. An in case there is e.g. a htp URL inside the picklist but no internet
connection available .... may be we will run into the system time out. For
windows this time out can be in range of 1-2 minutes. And there is no chance to
break this operation then ...

Thats why -> "WONT FIX".
