Description sforbes 2003-11-17 11:31:14 UTC
Hebrew font used to fallback for variables too large (tahoma 12, instead of
time 10 for roman), causing text to be cut off
to repro:

* Open attached OO template
* Make sure that you have CTL enabled in OO
* All font settings should be default
* Duble click on the value name <Document Name>, and enter a Hebrew value.
* Notice that afer using the Hebrew, the text "page X of Y" in the page footer
is cut off

Selecting the Hebrew text shows that it is using tahoma 12, instead of time 10.
Not only is the point value larger, also Tahoma's x hight is larget then most
fonts, so even at the same point size the font would be larger.

We should either use a closer match of font size for roman/ctl text, or we
should have some wrapping, to prevent word cut off

OO 1.1 final, on windows 2003

SBA: The behavior is correct. Because of the feature to set different
fons and sizes for the different script types, the CTL setting is
taken when Hebrew characters are used.
At this paragraph style (zzfooter), the setting for Western is "Times
8pt" while the setting for CTL is "Tahoma 12pt".

So only as long as the placeholder <DocumentName> is there, it stays
8pt. As soon as the string value is entered, the set rules (Font ...
for script ...) is obeyed correctly. The fotter (see format-page, tab
"footer" has a fixed size of 0,89cm with AutoHeight switched off and
therefore doesn't change although the string doesn't fit.

In total: A user error, set to invalid.
