Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22464
saving doc as excel causes excel to crash.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:13:02 UTC
1. I have an Excel original file 2. open in in OO 3. save it as excel 4. open it in Excel 5. Try to change the font of an entire sheet (select entire sheet, then choose different font) 6. Press Save. Excel crashes and dies. You may tell me this is a bug in Excel, but to me it's an OOo problem because OOo needs to be interoperable with Excel to be of any use to us in our office. This has happened on two important spreadsheets which I have had to re-do from scratch. I will submit a zip file which contains: a) original excel file - this is fine. b) the same file once saved by OOo - this causes Excel to crash on saving. I am using Excel 2000 (9.0.3821 SR-1) thanks!

Hi Daniel, I can reproduce this behaviour only if I use the second document from the zip. If I try to reproduce it using the first one in OOo and saving it to Excel, open the resulting file with Excel 2k or 2k3 and try to set the font for the whole document to a different one. Now saving the file and no crash. Could you have a look at the second file, maybe you can find out what has gone wrong with it. Frank
Wrong export of font families. This may happen with all Excel files exported with OOo 1.1.x! Already fixed in OOo 2.0. DR->OC: As this is a serious problem, and easy to fix, I recommend to fix this issue in OOo 1.1.1. Please decide and send back to me.
Set to OOo 1.1.1.
Review done.
taking back
fixed in srx645/calc20 (OOo 1.1.1)
