Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22437
Improve selecting pasted webpage linked images
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:12:46 UTC
When pasting a webpage from Mozilla into Writer, I discovered that it is extremely difficult for an end user to select images in the page. This is only the case when the image in question is linked to something else on the Web. I just wanted to select the image to delete it, but Writer wouldn't allow me to, it wants to open a browser with the url to which the image links. Now I found out that I should open the image toolbar, but I don't think this is the most user friendly way. Especially since the described actions happen quite often, I think.
There's no bug here. If you want to select the graphic instead of executing the hyperlinkg that is set at the graphic you can either press the Alt key while clicking or you can switch off hyperlink execution by clicking on the "HYP" entry in the status bar that then changes to "SEL"
I am talking about usability here. I don't think the method you describe is usable for Joe User. Imho the default behaviour should be the other way around: select the image when clicking on it, and execute the link when pressing ALT and clicking. After all, it is a word processor, not a browser.
changed type to enhancement since this not a bug but an usability issue... changed summary reassigned to bh
