Description klausmuth 2003-11-13 08:30:07 UTC
Reported also as Bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68098

When loading a large table in OOo Calc (40 columns x 21000 rows) and selecting
all, klipper begins to pop up for action eventually and OOo starts to consume
all available memory until it is killed by the kernel (Out of Memory logged in
/var/log/messages).

With no klipper running, OOo continues to run without consuming more memory than
before.

There seems to be some insane interaction between OOo & klipper.
KDE Version is 3.1.1a, klipper Version is 0.9.5

Yes, there seems to be a severe problem. I'll try to evaluate it.
Comment 3 peter.junge 2003-11-14 14:24:56 UTC
You can avoid the office getting killed by creating a real big swap
volume > 1GB ;-). But I guess that's not exactly what we want. The
process consumes several hundred megabytes instead of 10 MB when
klipper is inactive. Watch the klipper for a while. After some time
you can see the clipboard view beginning to scroll as OOo memory grows.

@Hennes: Hi, also reproduceble with several hundred pages of text in
writer.

hro@pl: Please evaluate wether this is really a problem in OOo.
Comment 5 philipp.lohmann 2004-02-20 12:51:41 UTC
This problem does not seem to occur with KDE3.2 and a SRC680m26 build. Can you
please verify that the problem still exists with the latest OOo build ?
Comment 6 philipp.lohmann 2004-11-24 15:22:32 UTC
still cannot reproduce this
Comment 7 peter.junge 2004-11-24 16:01:20 UTC
@klausmuth: Does it still occur or do you have any other information for us?
Comment 8 klausmuth 2004-11-25 11:39:07 UTC
I think we can close this issue, with KDE 3.1.4 & OOo 1.1.3 the problem
vanished. Keep on Your good work!
