Description gyles 2003-11-10 19:52:25 UTC
I'm getting garbled printing of labels. The effect is very hard to describe, so
I shall attach a scanned example. The nearest I can come to a description is
that the alignment of lines / line parts is wrong.

1. Create new labels e.g. Avery L7165
2. Enter some text
3. Create a full page of identical labels
4. Print labels (see scanned_print.pdf)
5. Print labels through JawsPDF PDF creator (print_to_pdf.pdf)
I wonder if there is a page layout issue here, as this page looks to be landscape.
6. Check page preview - seems OK (page_preview.png)
7. Export to PDF - also seems OK (export_pdf.pdf)

As a workaround I'm exporting then printing PDFs, but that seems heavy!

I have had this issue since OOo 1.0.0

System:
PC
Windows 2000 SP4

Printer:
Samsung ML-4500 (Samba share on Debian Stable (Woody) Linux, using Samsung
Driver on Windows)
I have seen this on a directly attached Epson in the past too.

cp->hdu: hmmm, works for me on Solaris. Maybe the same issue as with
the two-on-one printing with glyph-substitution ? Please have a look
if you can reproduce this one.

HDU->HI: please try to recreate the problem on OOo1.1. SSA thinks that PP2/aka
1.1.1 may contain a fix for this, especially the clipping problem.

I'm a new user of OpenOffice.org. I experienced the exact same problem of
garbled labels. I'm running OOo 1.1.0 on a PC with Windows XP Home SP1. I
have the same printer: a Samsung ML-4500 with the latest driver from the
Samsung web site.

- Avery 5161 labels
- created a full page of identical labels
- page preview looks fine (no problems)
- the 'export directly to PDF' works fine (no problems)

I'll try to attach a scan of the garbled output.

OOo 1.1.1 would seem to resolve this, for me at least.

How about you mgainey?

WFM with 1.1.2RC3 WIN XP: [645m44(Build8784].

I close this issue due to 'comments from gyles Tue Apr 13 03:24:06 -0700 2004'
and missing reaction from "mgainey".
