Description Unknown 2003-11-09 00:33:56 UTC
Line spacing choices affect the spacing both above *and* below where it is
applied. This is incorrect relative to the way that Microsoft Word handles line
spacing which only applies the spacing below.

This is fairly important as it means that all Microsoft documents with
non-uniform line spacing choices will be imported incorrectly.

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test
it/faster to confirm.
(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily/need more
time)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.
Comment 2 guido.pinkernell 2003-11-10 16:32:17 UTC
Can confirm this with OOo1.1.0(en) on Win98. The attached doc shows
the middle paragraph "double spaced". Note that the space to the
preceeding paragraph is the same as to the following paragraph.

Now click > Format > Paragraph > Indents.. > Line spacing: The preview
shows the space to the previous paragraph as "single line" as opposed
to the "1.5 lines" spacing to the following paragraph.

The preview indicates that actual spacing behaviour was intended to
behave differently. So I will leave it as Defect (though it seems more
like a RFE).

HI->MRU: Please compare.
Comment 5 michael.ruess 2003-11-11 14:26:20 UTC
MRU->OD: This should be the problem we recently talked about when
discssing the new alignment handling. The compatibility option we
mentioned at this time should solve the problem if this issue.
Please re-assign to me, when implemented.
Comment 6 guido.pinkernell 2003-11-12 19:15:50 UTC
There is a problem with line spacing in tables which seems to be
related to this problem, although it's not a matter of too much space
between lines but of not enough space between lines. See Issue 22387.
Comment 7 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-11-14 15:39:26 UTC
The different line spacing behaviour between OOo Writer and MS Word is
already covered by the enhancement issue #i11859.
Thus, mark this issue as duplicate.

Note:
The spacing in table cells - mentioned by pinkernell - isn't related
to this issue and is covered by another issue.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 11859 ***
Comment 8 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2004-02-11 11:48:38 UTC
OD->MRU: Checked in installation set of cws swlinespacing - please verify.
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2004-02-26 15:44:24 UTC
Checked implementation in CWS swlinespacing.
