Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22230
OpenOffice 1.1.0 installs on Mandrake 9.1, but fails to configure KDE menu and mime types
Last modified: 2003-12-04 09:13:41 UTC
I had the Mandrake installed 1.0.1 (or was it 1.0.3). I did a network install followed by a user install. The user install make some complaints that the current language setting in the existing install (I usee country Canda, with US English) differed from the language of the about-to-be-installed version, so it would not replace the original installation. I let it go ahead, and the install finished, but unlike promised, the KDE menu setup and application associations stayed with OpenOffice 1.0.1. I could manually start the new version programs from the command line. So I uninstalled 1.1.0, used Mandrake Control Center to uninstall OO 1.0.1, and re-installed OO 1.1.0. The install proceeded without complaints, but KDE remains completely unaware of the new installation, even though the transcript indicates all sorts of kde files were copied. This is a considerable annoyance as I can't click on files in the file manager, etc. I tried downloading some rpms of 1.1.0, which I found by searching, but the installer was not happy with the rpms (not your problem), I joined Mandrake club, and tried to download from there, and that was the most useless and frustrating 5 hr excercise in (not) downloading and (not) installing I have ever encountered in twelve years, and I paid for the privilege. (Not your problem again, but I mention it because I appear to have no choice but to get the OpenOffice.org distribution to work.) - Thanks for looking into this, Parzival
OOo 1.1.0 writes the files for KDE integration to .kde/share/applnk/OpenOffice.org 1.1.0/. Mandrake has it's own stucture for KDE and KDE integration that isn't supported by OOo.
