Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 22083
vertical font positioning varies depending on font, differs from PowerPoint
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:08:27 UTC
I found this while trying to display a PowerPoint presentation using OOo Present. Here's how to reproduce it. 1) Start Present. 2) Create a new text box on a slide. 3) Type a character, set it to 300 points and Arial. 4) Draw a line directly under the character to mark the bottom. 5) Change the font to Arial Black. The character shifts about half an inch lower. If I do this in PowerPoint instead, I don't get the big vertical shift. When I imported a PowerPoint presentation that has a large character in Arial Black, in OOo the character appeared on top of the element that was supposed to appear below it. I saw a few other OOo fonts that also varied widely in the vertical positioning. I'm not sure what the expected behavior is, but this is another factor that prevents me from using OOo to display PowerPoint files without editing them.
Reassigned to Christian.
set to new and change the target
I can reproduce the bug. Please have a look if this is your area.
HDU->CL: Impress seems to use ALIGN_TOP for text alignment. When changing fonts shouldn't change the baseline either use baseline alignment or adjust the text position.
will have a look at it
