IN the attached presentation, I tried the following: click in the text box in 
slide 2 (I have not checked other slides), select Slide show -> Effects and in 
the favorites category, select the Laser effect from top right effect, and slow 
speed. I applied the effect using the green checkmark and clicked on preview 
(the button next to the green checkmark). I was not able to stop the preview 
midway (after it has started but before it had stopped).
Worse, my system was unresponsive for a long time. I could not replicate the 
problem on W2K. The presentation was created and tested using StarOffice 7, 
which I think is based on OORC5, I do not have OO on my machines, so I cannot 
test on OO.

I can reproduce the bug.
When I do the same on Windows it takes a while until the preview stops
but it works.

With the new engine I can stop the preview of the effect.
I close the issue.
