Description Unknown 2001-11-13 19:52:05 UTC
Spaces at the end of the line are hidded and there is no indication they exist.
This may lead to confusing situations, especially for users which use more than
one space e.g. for tabulation.

Example of such situation:
1) Create new text document
2) Change settings to see invisible symbols
3) Type symbol 's'
4) Go to beginning of the line. Press and keep <space> button to add spaces
before the symbol 's' until the line is be wrapped and a little more.

What happens:
Suddenly all the spaces disappear and position of symbol 's' do not change if I
keep pressing <space> button.

What should happen:
There can be a few options to the correct behavior but I should see some
feedback. The added spaces should not be lost for the user.

Reassigned to Frank.

I suppose to add this as a feature, because most of our competitors
(Word, Word Perfect, etc.) are showing spaces at the end of the line.
I am convinced that many double spaces in SW documents are the result
of this missing feature.

If I hadn't used a my votes already, I would vote for this one. NOte that it has picked up
three dupes, as new people have discovered it.

There is also a setting in the
autocorrect options which looks as if it ought to turn it off, but does not. Perhpas
the simples solutio would simply be to wire up that checkbox so it works :-)

Seems there are many duplicates for this problem :
Issues 2197, 9485, 19226, 19341, 20512, 20878,...

Issue 2197 seems the first which describes the problem.

Can you confirm it ? And mark them as duplicated ?
My english is not really good.

Seems like this should be prioritized, as so many people are reporting it.
