Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21845
Watermark: Page Preview != Printed Output
Last modified: 2003-11-07 15:34:29 UTC
I put a watermark on a 3 page document. When I Page Preview it, the watermark is not on 1st page and this is ok. I see it on the 2nd page as 10% Gray. I see it the same on the 3rd page. When I print the document, the water mark is dark BLACK (not gray) on the 2nd page and nonexistant on the 3rd page. The document was derived from a word document but saved many times as .swx before the watermark addition was attempted. The original word document had no watermark. I can provide the document if there is interest.
Sorry, I should have said: The document was derived from a word document but modified and saved many times as .sxw before the watermark addition was attempted. Additional info: When I export the document to pdf and print it I see the watermarks on page 2 and 3 as expected and they print as expected. However, the 10% gray watermark setting prints *much* lighter than it appears on the screen (probably not a big deal).

This "watermark" is a textbox that´s been inserted into the header but larger than the header borders, by this covering the background of each page except the first page (whose page style is "First page"). So it´s not a watermark in the sense of the Help text, which is a graphic inserted via > Format > Page > Background > Graphic etc. Can confirm that the textbox isn´t printed on third page although it shows in page preview. This is described in Issue 16138, therefore this Issue will be closed as duplicate. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 16138 ***
.
FYI, I used the simpler method described the book "Taming OpenOffice" to insert a "watermark." Perhaps I should repeat that the "watermark" on page 2 prints dark black (and not at 10% gray) in native OO format, but ok on export to pdf. This does not seem to be mentioned in (now duplicate) issue 16138, nor does 16138 mention anything about printing or page preview for that matter.
As requested by hi@openoffice.org, problem is now being dealt with in a new Issue > Issue 22244
