Description faught 2003-10-24 20:47:23 UTC
1) Open a new text document in OOo.
2) Insert a simple table with one column, one row, and no header.
3) Type a few paragraphs into the table cell.
4) Save the file in MS Word 97/2000/XP format and close.
5) Open the file in MS Word (I used Word 2002 on Windows XP).
6) Insert another table below below the first (or in another Word doc).
7) Copy some or all of the text from the first table. Do not highlight
everything in the cell - just the lines of text.
8) Paste into the new table.
9) Observe that a few lines of text appear above the table, outside of the cell.
If I highlight a full line or more from the errant text and press Delete, it is
not deleted.

In the original more complex file I found this in, it creates a new row in the
table and shifts the alignment of one of the cells out to the right. Shortly
thereafter, Word goes into a spin loop and has to be forcefully killed.

If I save the file from Word after step 5 above, I cannot reproduce the problem.

Clearly, there is a Word bug here. But the result is that I cannot send .doc
files created by OOo to my client because they cannot paste the contents into
their Word docs. I have to open in Word and save first. I'd rather not have to
have Word installed.

I would like for the table in the exported .doc file to more closely match the
format that Word itself generates, so that the exported files from OOo don't
trigger this problem in Word.

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test
it/faster to confirm.
(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily/need more
time)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

If you attach the documents, we can save step 1-4, and can test
easier. thanks

I don't have an explanation for this odd behaviour respective why it
only happens with exported documents.

MRU->CMC: Do you have an Idea about this strange manner?
Comment 9 michael.ruess 2004-02-04 15:40:12 UTC
MRU->CMC: I was only able to reproduce this with OO export .doc's. Can you
imagine what's happening here?
Comment 10 caolanm 2004-02-11 15:16:46 UTC
That is the oddest thing I've seen in a while!
