Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21541
Pages empty in exported file
Last modified: 2004-03-11 11:41:24 UTC
There seems to be a bug in the PowerPoint export filter. When the presentation at the URL specified was exported, the file was unable to be loaded by PowerPoint 97. The preview during the loading phase was correct, and the background and the number of pages were both correct, but each page was blank except for empty "Click to add ..." templates.
Reassigned to Christian.
I can Reproduce the problem on OpenOffice 1.1 (default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. (And MS Office XP Sp2). It is real problem When I export the sxi file to powerpoint. I cannot open the file in powerpoint at all. canot open the file type of file represented by .... change OS to all, since I reproduce it in win xp.
I can't reproduce the bug with PPT 2000 and PPT xp. I'll test the bug with PPT 97 soon but I must install PPT 97 first and this could take some time. Hi Utomo did you closed the exported file in OOo before you try to open it in PPT? PPT can't open files which are still open in another application.
I change the prio to P3
I can't reproduce the bug. please attach the bugdocs (sxi and ppt) and send me a step by step description to reproduce the bug.

I can see the bug in the document which you can download from the URL above. I can't create an own document with the same behaviour. Please have a look.
change the target
SJ->CGU: I also can't reproduce this Issue, not even with the above mentioned url.
I can see the bug in the document you attached. I can't reproduce the bug with an own document. Please tell me how did you create this document.
It was a long time ago... I think I started with an existing PowerPoint (97? XP?) presentation, imported it, cut out lots of slides, added some, and re-exported, but I couldn't say for sure. I *might* have started a new presentation, and copied some slides in from an imported PowerPoint presentation. What happens if you take the document and copy it to another document (using Ooo copy+paste, not file copy)? If the new document exports OK, then you can do a diff on the xml (the benefit of human readable formats!) to see what may be causing the problem. Alternatively, you could start with the bad document and delete pages to isolate where the problem may be. I may have time to play with it in a week or so -- let me know if that is necessary. I don't mind if this goes in the "too hard" basket. IMHO, development time on Ooo would be better spent on reducing startup time and memory consumption, which are a major problem for me. Cheers, Lachlan
OK. it goes to the 'Too hard' basket. I hope you can reproduce the bug any time, so that we get a new issue which we can reproduce and fix. regards Christian
I close the issue as works for me.
