Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21536
show where to download JRE if system is missing it (during installation)
Last modified: 2014-02-20 20:48:27 UTC
Is there anyway to install the java runtime environment that is required for installation into the install package, or is this a licensing issue? The packaging and installation is sooooo smooth except for the smack in the face that you need a JRE and no direct link or OK button to have it fixed. Where does this stand as a priority for the developer / refiner folks out there?
atr->bh: Hi Bettina, please have a look on this enhancement, thanks.
It will be very nice feature if there are no licensing issues. But it should be always included as a separate package. Installer will recognize it in the installer directory if present. You shouldn't force user to download additional MBs if he is not interested in the Java features. If this is not possible, just show the link (clickable) where the user can download the j2re in the installation dialog. They are not able download and install j2re by themselves ...
