Description briandek 2003-10-22 04:16:52 UTC
Having created a new document in the presentation component of OpenOffice,
insert a slide with some text (e.g. 1234567890). Highlight text and go to
Format->Paragraph. Since the default width of the page is 11.02". Force the
fields to overlap between the before text and after text indentation by
inserting values e.g.10.00" in both fields. Text is wrongly formatted.

This should not happen given that text will not be formatted appropriately.
This defect can be also reproduced using bigger values. If we proceed you will
notice that you are able to enter a bigger indentation value compared to the
default page width. For example before text indent = 20.00" while the page
width is only 11.02". This should not be happen as well.

Comment 2 christian.guenther 2003-10-27 13:02:31 UTC
I can't reproduce the first Part of the issue. Corresponding to the
values of before/After Text the format of the text is ok.

The second part of this issue is a feature.
- We should check if the inserted values in Before/After Text are
possible.

I send this issue to you because in my mind is the second part of the
issue a feature and not a bug.
Comment 3 briandek 2003-10-27 16:24:43 UTC
I did some follow-up testing and found an issue related to this
situation. Here are the steps that I took to reproduce this
situation and expose the issue:

1. Create a New Empty Presentation

2. Within the Modify Slide option Screen, chose to use the "Title
Slide" auto layout. Press Ok.

3. There are two possible fields to enter text: "Click to add
title", and "Click to add text". We proceed to enter 0123456789 in
both fields.

You will notice that you are able to click outside each field and
return to them normally.

4. Click the "Click to add Title" field, and highlight(select) the
text. Go to Format->Paragraph and insert value 10.00" in both after
indent and before indent fields. Press ok.

The text isn't formatted appropiately and dissapears. If you click
outside the field which at the moment is visible, you will notice
that when you try and return to it you will not be able to because
it seems the field has dissapeared as well. I tried clicking on the
space the field used to be was unable to find it.

If you try "selecting" a much larger area where the field was in you
will be able to find the field. If you return the after/before
indent values of this field to 0.00" you will once again be able to
see the text 0123456789 in the center of the field.

5. Click the "Click to add text" field. Highlight text within, go to
Format->Paragraph and insert value 10.00" in both after indent and
before indent fields.

The same issue is present in this field.

Still finding this occurrence in formatting 10 years later. I conducted the same tests that user almohamedh did and found the same results.
