Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 2151
Cannot scroll to bottom of large document
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:55:00 UTC
I have a large document saved as .SXW which I can not scroll to the last page of. It worked fine as a .doc and .SDW. Once saved as an .SXW and reopened the word processor will not scroll down to make the text on the last page fully visible. There is a reasonable amount of formating. In particular there is a title page, Table of contents, various manual breaks to make it "like a book" with chapters starting only on right-hand pages. The first chapter break after the table of contents has a set-page-number-to-one setting. Footers on the chapter leader pages and alternating headers on all the other pages. With all that it could be a rounding error in the "how many pixels tall is the whole scroll region" kind of thing. Since it is an unpublished work and quite large (382 pages, 204 thousand words) I don't want to attach it here. I don't have a webserver on which I can put the document but I can send it to a developer under the general understanding that it not get around. 8-)
I asked the submitter to send me the document.
I got the document and I could reproduce it in the current internal version too. I submitted an internal bug (ID=95005) for this. Robert: As a workaround, press <Ctrl>+<End> to get the cursor to the end of the document and add some empty paragraphs or a page break. Result: The last page (that refuses to show its bottom) is an empty one. Reassigned to Andreas.
The problem were empty pages, which were created when a right page follows another right page. Fixed in 641 q.
641b on Windows still/again exhibits the same behavior (with the added bonus that now the .SDW format files are broken now too)
Fixed in Open Office 641 c.
