Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21502
Q-PCD EaseOfUse-25 Undo: More complete coverage of undo-able actions
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:12:38 UTC
Description from paremt task: Product Requirement: Provide a more complete coverage of undo-able actions and more specific action descriptions Customer Need/Problem: Not all actions are undoable, so undo appears broken sometimes. Product Concept Undo / Redo have to be enhanced in: Calc: Auto Filters Impress: Slide layout Writer: Updating of indices Example: Insert table of content, then change a header, then update table of content deletes the undo stack. Writer / Impress / Calc: StyleSheets (esp. Page StyleSheets in Writer): Examples: a) changing the page border with the mouse b) changing background color of pages or paragraph styles c) adding a header/footer Changes to styles are generally not undoable. If they involve switching headers/footers on/off, the undo stack is deleted as well. d)Some descriptions of the undo/redo items should be redefined by User Experience.
changed parent to IZ task 111320

LHO->MMP: You already are involved into this matter, so please take over the user experience part of this. Thanks.

I just wanted to write down the error message that has caused confusion and one of the suggested solutions if the technical situation doesn't let us remove the message entirely. Problematic message: "This action deletes the list of actions that can be undone. Previous changes made to the document are still valid, but cannot be undone. Do you want to continue and thus assign the new slide design?" One suggested rewrite: "By making this change, you will lose the ability to use the "Undo" option for any modifications that were made prior to this change. Do you want to continue?"
