Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21486
adjust position of vector, tilde, etc. to the slant of the base letter
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:55:07 UTC
Tilde, vector, Line Above are not shown correctly. Symbols with this signs have italic font properties so the top of the char is slightly moved to the right while tilde sign for example stays on the same place. This bug is not obvious for small letters but for capital type letters it is perfectly seen. I'll try to atttach the example of the formulae showing this bug.

Can confirm this with OOo 1.1.0(en) on Win98, with attached bugdoc and "from scratch".
It looks perfectly well with OOo 1.1 and Win XP. TL->HDU: Please have a look. I remember Win98 having special problems
Can you also attach a screenshot?

HDU->BH: Currently Math places arrows, tildes etc. over the middle of the bounding box of the letter. The problem with this is that the visual expectation of what looks good does not match math currently done. I agree that for slanted letters the arrows, tildes, bars etc. should be drawn adjusted to the slant of the base letter. If you agree please set a target and reassign to TL.

Any changes?
Still does not work properly, with OO 2.3.1. In writer, open an equation window and type: hat Y = %alpha + %beta{bar X} + %epsilon Zoom to 200% if you can't see it clearly on the screen. The bar over the X will be displaced to the left relative to the letter. I took a screenshot but can't figure out how to upload it here.
Doesn't work on OOo 3.0.0 on OSX. bar X looks horrible.
