Impress. OOo 1.1
According to the help files to insert a media clip you go to;
Insert | Object | Video.
The option to insert a video is there at the indicated location, but it is
greyed out along with sound. I can not get anywhere trying to get video to
play. I can insert one as a OLE object but all this does is play in a separate
window, which I must manually start.
This is absolutely useless to me as I need to be able to insert video clips
into a endless loop/unattended presentation. Or more to the point I want to be
able to use my current Micro$oft presentations which contains media clips.
Come to think of it even the animated GIF's refuse to work on Impress (which
quite frankly doesn't for me) unless I rebuild the presentation from scratch
in Impress and then the animated GIF's work.

We are preparing to roll out a dozen POS units which I would dearly love to
run under OOo but at this stage I'm starting to think I'll have to stay with
Micro$oft Powerpoint and at this stage Impress doesn't.

The issue has occured under Win98/ME and XP Pro.

Does anyone have ANY idea how to get around this problem in/under Window$ ????

Do I need to download a media plug-in ?? If so, which one and where to get
it....

The ability of OO to include and display videos depends upon the
installed plugins for netscape. That means if you have netscape
installed with the fitting plugin for the videos OO will use it to
display the videos. Then the insert/ object/ video is not greyed out
anymore. Hope this helps.
