Description Unknown 2003-10-10 20:59:07 UTC
When accessing user-readable files across the network (Novell in this case),
the OOo apps sometimes fail to allow saves using the same filename
(overwrites). This occurs at random intervals. Most often, the OOo app will
allow one overwrite save before generating an I/O error. Sometimes, the app
will permit two or three saves to the same filename, then on the next try, a
dialog pops up informing the user the file is "read-only," followed by another
dialog popup indicating an general I/O error. I can reproduce this on the
presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing apps, and it can only be
reproduced when attempting to overwrite existing files with .sx* suffixes (OOo
format). Since non-OOo formats do not exhibit this same behavior, I have
tentatively ruled out network-related ACL issues.

There is a similar issue in the database (#13940) that seems to address this
problem in 1.0.3.

TM->bak: Need some additional information: Did you save via system
save / save-as dialog or our own one (check
tools/option/general/staroffice - use staroffice dialogs) ? Did you
connect to the target volume via network neighbourhood (unc- file
names) or via a mapped device ? What about the settings for automatic
save and backup copy (in tools/options/...) ?
