Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21031
Installer opens with text in about 144-point type
Last modified: 2003-12-04 09:22:58 UTC
Greetings. Downloaded OO binary for Linux today from the openoffice.org mirror at Indiana.edu. Logged in as root user, X-Windows starts fine. 1024x768 screen mode, 16-bit color, no other tasks running in X-Windows, minimal system items running otherwise. Unpacked just fine, installer starts. Can't see the screens to install it, only about 8 letters fit on the screen at a time. Platform is a Compaq Presario 1600 XL-1 laptop, PIII processor, 192 MB RAM, 12 GB HDD, unmodified (yet, give me a day or two) Redhat 8.0 install. Kernel version is "2.4.18-14 on i686." GCC/G++ is 3.2.3. Anything else you need to know will be provided upon request.
Please try with OOo 1.1.0.
This is 1.1.0. Sorry, new to your database interface, and must have chosen the wrong version, or possibly scrolled it with the mouse while still in that selection box. My mistake, mea maxima culpa. Changed the version item. -- www
please check the display settings of your XServer. Run xdpyinfo and make sure that it reports reasonable values for the resolution, and the display size.
I saw this kind of thing happen with some beta releases of 1.1 and my Debian installation. Annoying, isn't it? But 1.1.0 seems to work fine on my system, so I can't confirm.
xpdyinfo results appended, inconclusive. OF -> CP: Does the xpdyinfo could help you here?
dimensions: 1024x768 pixels (28x21 millimeters) obviously does not make sense (as long as there are no XGA mobile phones ;-). Please configure your XWindow system to provide reasonable values.
Ye Ghods! Hoist by a decimal point! Torched by a tochka.... Ahem...280 x 210 mm it is.... We'll see if that works this evening when I get to where the laptop is. Wonder why nothing else is bothered by this mis-setting? All other apps thus far run flawlessly. -- Wes Will The Red-Faced....
Seems to be a problem with the XServer settings.
