Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20923
Suggestion: Remove OpenOffice navigation links from IssueZilla pages
Last modified: 2016-04-07 08:25:42 UTC
The OOo navigation links that appear on the left-hand-side of all web pages are generally quite useful, but when working with IssueZilla, I think they represent a distraction or confusion as the IssueZilla windows are complex enough as they are. Suggestion: Remove the links from cgi output, to produce clean IssueZilla forms (and give them all the space they can get, which they need.)
I must say the situation has improved a lot after the overall layout change of the OOo websites, and the Bugzilla/Issuezilla/IssueTracker update. The distinction between what belongs to the actual query form and what does not, is now clearer, and I no longer feel that my eyes get drawn away from the important sections of the interface.
toralf, what do you want us to do with this issue? Keep in mind that IssueZilla is a proprietary element and that changes to it are not easily made; we have to ask CollabNet to implement them, and CollabNet has thus to alter its product, creating a one- off that must then be tracked. Louis
Forgot to answer the last question earlier, sorry. What I would like you to do, is essentially to change the layout so that there are fewer GUI elements that aren't actually part of the IssueZilla component and/or maintained by CollabNet, in the web page I see when working with IssueZilla. I mean, when working with this update form, I see 1. The form itself. 2. A box to the left labelled "How do I", containing links to IssueZilla help, among other things. 3. A general OpenOffice.org header. 4. Another box labelled "General Links". 5. Yet another labelled "Search". 6. A general OpenOffice.org footer. I'm assuming only 1. and 2. are integral parts of IssueZilla. What I'm saying is that maybe you should remove some or all of the other 4, because they are somewhat distracting in this context - there is just too much information on the page. Although, like I said, it was a lot worse in older versions.
I'll look into this; feel free to remind me :-)
Reset QA Contact to new default
On the new infrastuture where issuezila has been replaced by bugzilla there is no left hand navigation bar on the left hand site of bugzilla pages anymore. Setting issue to fixed!
