Description burna 2003-10-08 18:04:43 UTC
OO confuses the right space while writing chinese between english (or german as
well) words. I use scim for the chinese input method. After I have typed a word
in chinese, the curser jumps a few letters or even (english or german) words
further instead behind the last chinese character. That makes editing mixed
language documents nearly impossible. This problem did not occour in Beta 1 for
Windows. I also changed the version of the input method system. The Problem, I
guess is related to OO.

Reassign issue to owner of selected subcomponent
Comment 2 burna 2003-10-14 09:41:04 UTC
OO not just confuses the right space between Latin and Chinese
characters, but also just between Chinese characters. If one wants to
write between an already existing paragraph, the cursor jumps not to
the next Character after the chinese word is displayed but a few
character further. Input Method System is SCIM. I have not checked
Chinput or other Input Systems.

I tried XCIN and FCITX as input method for simplified chinese. Both
worked fine in openoffice, so this issue seems to be related to SCIM
as input method editor. SCIM doesn't support Openoffice well or there
might be a bug in OO. Since I don't understand much about IMEs, maybe
someone could check it. SCIM is a very good Chinese IME, so it would
be nice to get it properly working in OO, since there are so many
Chinese waiting for a good IME.

changed prio to P3
Comment 7 burna 2003-10-31 05:00:26 UTC
Issue can be closed, since this problem is related to an auto fill
preedit feature of SCIM. If it is switched off, everything works fine.
