When a filter is applied, and when a new one is selected with the old one still 
applied, then clicking cancel to cancel it, the filter disappears but the rows 
still remain hidden.

Hi,

this is not a bug but an support request. Such questions are answered
on the Mailinglists, especially user@...

If you apply a filter and after that you try to apply a new one and
found out that you do not want to do it, cancel just stops the
creation of the new filter and leaves the first one un-effected. This
works as intended. If you want to delete the filtering, place the
cursor on top of the filtered range and select Remove Filter from the
Data Filter Menu.
