Although the OOO installation correctly recognised my location as Ireland, the
default language was incorrectly set to English (USA) instead of English (Éire).

MRU->BH: at the moment, the "main" language from the OO version is
taken, e.g. an English OO has "English (USA)", a French OO has "French
(France)" and a German OO has "German (Germany)" as default document
language. The locale setting of the system are actually not taken into
account of this setting.
Maybe it could make more sense to evaluate between system and Office
language, e.g. only do a fallback to OO language if the system locale
completely differs from it.

The Issue you raised has the status 'New' pending further action, but has not
been updated within the last 4 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the
latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed.

or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing):

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
