Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20721
Window lay-out enhancement
Last modified: 2003-11-04 17:23:17 UTC
Hello, I've downloaded OpenOffice a couple of days ago, and I have to say: Nice work! Especially those "Office XP-look" buttons in the toolbars: nice. But, there are some things which can make OpenOffice nicer: 1)The configurationpanel is quite big and cloudy/indisctict. 2)The A4 paper in the Writer-application is aligned on the left side of the window; it would be nicer if it's aligned in the middle of the screen, or right side. 3)I think all the AutoPilot windows should have thesame size and thesame lay- out. 4)The toolbars have got nice buttons, but it would be nice if the menus have got thesame lay-out too: the shadow behind the icon when you move your mouse above a button/(menuitem), the blue borders and selections, etc. 5)The space (in menu's) between the text and the left side of the menu, is quite big. 'Cause of that the checkbox and the menu icon are next to eachother. I think it's a better idea to combine the checkbox and the menu icon. How? By just creating two images. One if the menu item is checked, one if the menuitem is unchecked. (Like MS Office) (difficult, difficult, difficult...) 6)The toolbar of the Writer: when I check all toolbar buttons on, so all the buttons are able to be seen, the first icon is New and the second is New with a template. But the button icons are wrong. The New has got a picture with a green arrow and text on the paper. The other has got a plain-paper icon. Those icons must be switched... The one withthe template should have the one with the green arrow and text (blue lines) on the paper. The one without the template, just plain, should have a plain-paper icon. That's it. Sorry for the my english' mistakes. I just became 15, I live in the Netherlands and I just began my third year english, so... Thanks!
SBA: Thank you for contributing to OpenOffice.org. Congratulations for your English after only 3 years ;-) But I have to tell you that we can not handle "collective tasks". I agree that it saves time for the submitter, but these are impossible to handle for us. To give you an idea, think about this: (1) Some issues get dropped, some get done immediately, some "sometimes", resulting in different target milestones (2) Depending on the subject, dfferent people will have to discuss, decide, specify, implement and test. But one issue can only have one owner at a time. So I ask you to file a single issue for each subject. Your effort to contribute is appreciated, but I have to refuse this task as "invalid" for the reasons I stated above. Thanks for your comprehension.
