Description Unknown 2003-10-04 01:03:45 UTC
Tried to do a TWAIN image import from a USB connected Canon N650U scanner into
the Text Editor (and into the Drawing Editor, later). After selecting the Canon
scanner, and then going to Insert/Image/Scan/Request... it brings up the scanner
driver. I proceed to preview, select, and scan the document. The scanner
driver closes as normal, but no image appears anywhere in the document even
after waiting, refreshing, and saving. Image also does not appear in the
Windows clipboard (just a thought that it might). Tried exact same opteration
with same image and settings in MS Word and in Photoshop and it worked fine, so
no problem with scanner driver.

On my system (WinXP SP1 incl. all SP2-Fixes) scanning with Cannon
N650U works fine.

I've updated with all XP patches, and the newest Canon Driver. It
simply does not work. The only weird thing about my system is that
I've replaced the uxtheme.dll to allow 3rd party themes, but I don't
see how that would affect TWAIN import. I guess it's just back to
Office XP for me, then. It works fine, and it was only $5. Good
enough for me.

Uninstalled then reinstalled lates Canon Driver and software using
Canon provided uninstall and install utilities. Confirmed that Canon
states scanner is TWAIN complient. Reinstalled Open Office.org 1.1
final. Tried importing using insert dialogue in writer and draw,
neither would import. Both brought up scanner interface and scanned,
but did not display image. Used scanner software to bring up
interface without OOo, scanned, and told software to export to OOo
executable, and it opened Draw with the image inserted. Very
inconvienient but it works. Any ideas why this might be the case?
Any ideas of how to fix?
