Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20615
Database descriptions not shown between Access 2003 RC and OOO 1.1 RC5
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:23:52 UTC
Access database descriptions for table columns are not shown in OOO Table Editor for ODBC connected database and vice-versa. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a table in OOO and set a description for a column. 2. Open the database in Access 2003 and show the table in Design View. 3. Result - descriptions not present. 4. Set description for a column in Access 2003. 5. Edit table in OOO and check the column description. 6. The column description set in Access is not shown.
correcting sub component (see http://www.openoffice.org/issues/describecomponents.cgi?component=Database%20access, please), and default owner
Hi Ocke, Is it possible to get these information via ADO? Bye Marc
Hi, the decription which is set for the column will be saved inside OpenOffice and not the database fileformat (Access). It is no description for the column, more a help text which will be displayed when the mouse point goes over the column in the grid control. May be Ado supports the description of columns with their provider specific properties of columns. We have to investigate this. Best regards, Ocke
Set target.
change subcomponent to 'none'
Fixed in cws dba33f.
The table designer now contains an extra column named "column description". This column contains the description which are returned by the database itself. The update of this column value depends on the capabilities of the driver and can not be investigated before trying to store :-) My first try to store it with Access wasn't successful. Please verify. Thanks.
verified in CWS dba33f find more information about this CWS, like when it is available in the master builds, in EIS, the Environment Information System: http://eis.services.openoffice.org/EIS2/cws.ShowCWS?Path=DEV300%2Fdba33f
